At the bottom left of the city is the Chinatown suburb which has
the Market City and also Paddys Markets, where all the fresh food,
fruit and vegetables and great bargains can be pounced on.
There is the Harbourside shopping and entertainment complex which
was built to commemorate the Bicentenary of Australia. The Darling
Harbour Fiesta and several other festivals take place here. Close
by are the Chinese Gardens, as well as the Sydney Aquarium, the IMAX
cinema and the National Maritime Museum, and not forgetting also
the Powerhouse Museum. Not far away is the Star City Casino and also
nearby is the cool Cockle Bay Wharf which is a long boardwalk of
live music venues, restaurants and nightclubs.
To the right of Hyde Park is the Domain, which is a huge park that
has great outdoor events and concerts like the Carols in the Domain.
The Art Gallery of New South Wales is around here and the Royal Botanic
Gardens as well as Mr. Macquaries Chair is positioned here.
The main street in the East suburbs is Oxford Street. This long street
extends all the way from the main business area in Darlinghurst and
runs along into Paddington, and next it passes the busy Centennial
Park all the way to Bondi Junction. There are many restaurants and
cafes, cinemas, bookshops and many designer fashion stores. All the
harbour side suburbs like Double bay, The Rose Bay and Elizabeth
Bay all meet at Watson’s Bay and the views here across the
city are stunning. Check out the world renowned famous restaurant
called Doyle’s Seafood Restaurant which has fantastic views.
Across the peninsula is the South Head, the the Southern Gate, which
is located Sydney Harbour and the Sea. The coast nearby attracts
thousands of tourists to its beloved beaches like Bronte, Bondi,
Coogee and Tamarama beach.
